Blinky is a mutated, three-eyed orange fish from the animated series The Simpsons, discovered by young Bart Simpson while fishing in a polluted river near Springfield. Far from being a natural miracle, Blinky was the result of radioactive waste leakage from the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
At the time, power plant owner Montgomery Burns attempted to cover up the environmental scandal by promoting Blinky as the "next step in evolution," claiming that three eyes were a product of natural selection.
